- Position: This 10 hour per week ministry is a new position for Creekwood. The person who seeks this ministry needs to be a strong Christian, one who desires a challenge, and a person who wants to make a difference. We think this person should have joy along the way while starting a new ministry that will help minister to our existing membership and grow our church for tomorrow!
- QUALIFICATIONS
- · Must be a Christian of exemplary conduct and integrity and agree with and support our Baptist doctrine and beliefs. References will be checked and a background check will be conducted.
- · Have a history of involvement in the ministries of an evangelical Christian church (of any denomination).
- · Have a love for people and the ability to work with persons of all ages and varied backgrounds.
- · Be an accomplished vocalist, guitarist or keyboard player; sensitive to a blended worship style.
- · Have familiarity with computers and audio-visual systems used in modern worship-can include podcast, power point, audio & visual sound equipment including amps, microphone and sound mixer.
- · Must have leadership qualities, along with organizational skills and ability to multi-task; work collegially with other staff and church leaders.
- · Needs a ‘get it done’ attitude, thinking strategically and tactically.
- · Must acknowledge God’s gifts of music, leader of God’s people in worship vs. performer.
- RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Worship Band Leader will work with the Pastor and report directly to the Worship Department.
- Pray for God’s guidance and leadership in all aspects of worship (sometimes this prayer will be individually, other times collectively with Pastor and others involved in the overall worship ministry)
- Develop a cohesive worship team to support the ministry; build on member strengths and be a positive influence
- Provide leadership during worship service, leading and engaging congregational members in participation
- Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit so that God’s Spirit may accomplish God’s purposes
- Spend approximately 2 hours in band practice, 2 hours in preparation, 1 hour in various meetings, and 1 hour in recruiting other musicians and/or other supervision/management, and the balance of the time is spent in researching music, coordinating special events with Pastor, and 2 hours in worship
- Meet with Worship Planning Team to review/set the overall themes of worship several months out 2x per month
- Write appropriate articles for Newsletter, due the 15th of month to the Church Secretary
- Coordinate all meetings/events on master church calendar with church secretary
- ADMINISTRATIVE NOTES:
- This is a 10 hours per week part-time position.
- Pay is once a month; unemployment is not paid; taxes and FICA will be withheld.
- No medical/dental plan is provided; Workman’s Comp will be paid.
- Paid vacation/personal days – 5 hours earned per quarter. Vacation days may be taken consecutively and are accumulative. Other days without pay may be arranged with the Pastor’s and Worship Department Chair’s approval.
- This is an at-will agreement which either party may terminate the relationship with a 30-day notice.
- 90-day trial period.
- The Pastor and the Chairman of The Worship Department will conduct an annual review in late October or early November; a report with recommendations will be given to the Personnel Committee.

- When coming from Loves Park, Machesney Park, and the northern neighborhoods of Rockford, take Riverside Blvd. east to Perryville Road, then turn south on Perryville to Spring Creek Road. Turn east at that intersection, where the Phillips 66 gas station is located, and go past the entrance road to Woodmans. Creekwood Baptist Church is a block further east on the right side of the road (there is a big sign).
Worship Band Leader
Job Description
Minister of Children
(Birth to 6th Grade)
Position: This is a new position for Creekwood. We desire to focus on a ministry towards children and their parents. We desire to minister within our community and win more children and their parents to Christ to be transformed and grow up in Christ. We want to encourage those families who are already Christians to a deeper walk with Christ.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be a Christian of exemplary conduct and integrity and agree with and support our Baptist doctrine and beliefs; references will be checked and a background investigation will be conducted.
· Must be college graduate or working toward a degree.
· At least two years experience working with children; volunteer experience will also be considered.
· Must have leadership qualities and organizational skills; be able to work as a team player and also take initiative individually.
· Must be able to care for and teach Christian truths to children from birth to 6th grade.
· Must be able to recruit and train volunteers for the Children Sunday School classes, extended session, children’s worship, and choir/worship rehearsals as well as special events.
YOUR MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Minister of Children will work with the Pastor and report directly to the Christian Education Department Chair. The Minister of Children will be responsible for the following actions:
- In conjunction with the Christian Education Department, establish and implement procedures for the Children’s Ministry to include Sunday mornings, and weekly children’s programs
- Provide a spiritual learning experience each Sunday morning for the children from birth to the 6th grade; this will include Sunday School, extended session, and children’s worship
- Recruit, screen and train volunteers for all children’s teachers/workers
- Coordinate the ordering of literature and teaching supplies and the maintenance of equipment and classrooms for the Children’s Ministry
- Organize parent training and day/night out programs and parent training events
- Encourage children in missions by involving them in mission trips/projects
- Write monthly article for Newsletter, due the 15th of each month to the Church Secretary
- Coordinate all meetings/events on master church calendar with church secretary
- Any other tasks the Chair of Christian Education and Minister of Children mutually agree upon
ADMINISTRATIVE NOTES:
- This is a part-time position; hours will be 20 hours per week.
- Pay is twice a month; unemployment is not paid; taxes and FICA will be withheld.
- No medical/dental plan is provided; Workman’s Comp will be paid.
- Paid vacation and personal days – 10 hours earned per quarter. Vacation days may be taken consecutively and are accumulative. Other days without pay may be arranged with the pastor’s and Christian Education Department Chair’s approval.
- This is an at-will agreement which either party may terminate the relationship with a 30-day notice.
- The Minister of Children is hired under a 90-day trial period.

(College and Career)
Position: This ministry is a new position for Creekwood. The person who seeks this ministry needs to be a strong Christian, one who desires a challenge, and a person who wants to make a difference. We think this person should have joy along the way while starting a new ministry that will grow with our church!
YOUR QUALFICATIONS:
· Must be a Christian of exemplary conduct and integrity and agree with and support our Baptist doctrine and beliefs.
· College graduate or demonstrate that you are working toward a degree.
· Demonstrate experience and leadership (paid or volunteer) working with young adults.
· Must have leadership and organizational skills, creative ability, and work as a team player.
· Must be able to care for and teach Christian truths to young adults.
· Must be a self starter defined by being able to design, organize, create, and follow-through in ministry tasks.
YOUR MINISTRY TASKS:
The Minister of Young Adults will work with the Pastor and report to the Christian Education Department Chair. The Minister of Young Adults will be responsible for the following:
- Provide a biblically based spiritual learning event each week for young adults which will focus on Christian life-skills and Christian doctrine
- Provide fellowship opportunities open to all young adults at least once a month (Location and details to be discussed)
- Recruit, screen, and train volunteers to assist in the functions listed above as needed
- Coordinate the ordering of needed literature and equipment with the Christian Education Chair or their designated curriculum person
- Involve the Young Adult Group in mission trips/projects
- Write monthly article for Newsletter, due the 15th of each month to the Church Secretary
- Coordinate all meetings/events on master church calendar with Church Secretary.
- Perform other tasks the Chair of Christian Education and Minister of Young Adult mutually agree upon

Job Description
Worship Accompanist
Position: This is a 7 hour per week ministry. The Worship Accompanist is responsible for the accompaniment of congregational, solo, and choral singing as well as other music for worship and/or special services.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be a Christian of exemplary conduct and integrity. References will be checked
- Possess keyboard skills with piano and electronic keyboard (Experience on the organ is a plus)
- Experienced in accompanying congregational singing, soloists, and choral groups (experience playing with a worship band is a plus)
- Works well as a team member in the music ministry of Creekwood with the Pastor, Praise Team/Band and other musical staff members
YOUR MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accompany Sunday Worship services from approximately 9:00 AM - 12:00 noon (approximately 3 Hours/Sunday) and other special services such as Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve (approximately 2-3/year)
- In conjunction with the Worship Planning team, select appropriate music for a blended service of traditional and contemporary music (approximately 2 hours per month) to include preludes, offertories, and postludes as needed
- Rehearse with choral groups, soloists, and Praise Team/Band members as scheduled (approximately 3 hours/ week)
- Be available if requested for weddings, wedding rehearsals and funerals held in the church and rehearsals with selected vocalists (paid separately for these services)
- Be willing to participate in continuing education activities if opportunities arise and are appropriate to the Worship Department’s budget
- Any other tasks the Chair of the Worship Department and Worship Accompanist mutually agree upon
